Maintenance Instructions
Routine maintenance ensures safety, performance, and longevity of the trailer. These practices follow standard semi-trailer maintenance intervals, scaled for light-duty use:
- Before Every Trip:
- Check tire pressure and tread wear
- Verify operation of all lights
- Inspect coupler, safety chains, and fasteners
- Monthly:
- Grease axle bearings and suspension linkages
- Retorque outboard arm bolts to 90-95 ft-lbs (122-129 Nm)
- Retorque control arm pivot bolts to 430-470 ft-lbs (583-638 Nm)
- Lift the trailer, turn wheels individually by hand and make sure they are running smoothly and there is no slack in the wheels when moved side to side. Tighten hub nut to take the slack out and re-check.
- Clean and recoat exposed metal if needed
- Every 6–12 Months:
- Do a complete visual inspection of the all parts of the trailer. Inspect all metal parts, hangers, control arms, frame for cracks, deformed surfaces or broken welds, electrical system and brake systems, towing coupling and mounting bolts.
- Remove wheels, clean hubs, and re-pack bearingsInspect leaf springs, shackle bushings, and shock absorbers
- Repaint underbody or touch up finish
- Grease suspension bushing every 12,000 miles or twelve months.
